Title
Essays on the cost-effectiveness of remote patient follow-up (Research)
Abstract
Within healthcare, there is an evolution towards value-based healthcare, a system of care in which patient value is central. This value is defined as the health outcomes achieved in relation to the costs of care. Remote patient follow-up, for example through telemonitoring, offers opportunities to make healthcare more patient-centred. At the same time, such follow-up is associated with costs. This PhD examines to what extent various remote patient follow-up strategies are cost-effective. It examines whether and how these strategies can contribute to improved health outcomes on the one hand and reduced healthcare costs on the other.
