S-EDU-CED - Sustainability EDUcation through Co-creation, Experience and Design in, with & for Nature (Education)

In the IOP S-EDU-CED by Nature - Space for learning from, with, and in nature, we explore the potential of the outdoor space on and around the UH campuses as a learning environment for learning about, and as, sustainability. The EU GreenComp 'promoting nature' or learning from, with, and in nature serves as a lever to further integrate the four sustainability competencies from the Education Policy Plan into various programs at Hasselt University. To this end, we are working with students and teachers from ARK, SSW, SES, WET & RWS on 1) the co-creative development of a number of physical outdoor learning spaces on both campuses, and 2) the development and testing of alternative forms of teaching, working, and assessment that can be used in these spaces. For lecturers, this broadens the range of possibilities for integrating one or more of the four sustainability competencies into their courses, and students can strengthen their sustainability competencies during and after the project. All this in ways and in places that are currently (virtually) unused within (sustainability) education at Hasselt University.
