Sustainable thinking and action Sustainability for a new generation of scientists and engineers (Education)

This interfaculty IOP project aims to develop sustainability knowledge, skills, and attitudes among students in chemistry, physics, materiomics, mathematics, and industrial sciences programs. To this end, a common sustainability objectives framework will be developed and implemented, linked to an evaluation framework. To ensure that sustainability is explicitly reflected in the curricula, either a learning pathway will be implemented (chemistry, physics, materiomics, industrial sciences) or a new OPO will be developed (mathematics, optional OPO for other programs). In addition, content modules will be developed and a faculty-wide Sustainability Day will be organized. To support teachers in teaching sustainability competencies, a professionalization program will be developed with appropriate working methods and evaluation forms. After the IOP project has ended, the initiatives will be opened up to other programs at Hasselt University and shared with interuniversity networks.
