Title
Board – TMT interface in family firms (Research)
Abstract
This project explores how the interaction between the Board of Directors (BOD) and the Top Management Team (TMT) influences decision-making and long-term performance in family firms. Family businesses often face unique challenges, such as overlapping family and business roles, succession planning, and balancing emotional and financial goals. These factors can shape how boards and executives communicate, share information, and make strategic choices.
By studying different types of board–TMT relationships, this project aims to identify which governance practices help family firms remain innovative, resilient, and well-prepared for the future. The results will offer practical insights for owners, board members, and managers who want to strengthen governance structures and improve collaboration at the highest leadership levels. Ultimately, this research contributes to a better understanding of how family businesses can grow sustainably across generations.
