Title

Unlock Europe: AI-driven Data Analytics for Policy analysis (Education)

Abstract

By creating a short-term international classroom in the format of a summer school, we aim to address an identified need in multiple regions, offering a unique opportunity for high-quality education and international mobility to students who may not be able to participate in long-term mobility programs. This fosters cross-cultural learning, diverse perspectives, and collaborative problem-solving. The Summer School on 'Unlock Europe: AI-driven Data Analytics for Policy-analysis' is an intensive program designed for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, PhD candidates, and early-career professionals eager to deepen their understanding of EU policy-making. The program integrates EU policy-making and AI-driven data analytics, offering hands-on experience with tools such as R/Python, web scraping, and data visualization. Week 1 – EU Policy-Making: Participants explore EU decision-making processes, regulatory frameworks and policy impact assessment through lectures, workshops, case studies and a field trip to the European institutions in Brussels. Engagement with policymakers and local economic actors offers practical insights into governance, policy evaluation and regulatory practices. Week 2 – AI & Data Analytics for Policy: Participants apply data-driven techniques to real policy cases, using R/Python, web scraping, and data visualization. Group projects and presentations enable participants to integrate analytical skills with knowledge of EU policy. By the end of the program, participants will have acquired practical skills in data-driven policy analysis, a deeper understanding of EU governance and a heightened awareness of sustainability and responsible policy-making, preparing them for careers in European institutions, think tanks, and international organizations.
