What?
The BOF programme outgoing mobility funds outgoing international academic research stays for a short period of time (from 1 to 3 months). The stay can take place in 2026 and start from March 2026 onwards. The outgoing international mobility programme is open for postdoctoral researchers, tenure-track assistant professors and ZAP members for a short stay at international research institutions/universities. The stay of the researcher has to be part of the scientific research within their research group or institute.In certain regions, there is a concern about the involvement of research institutions and universities in human rights violations. Hasselt University urges its staff to exercise particular caution when collaborating with partners from regions listed on this page.
This funding includes a fixed daily allowance of € 66/day (max. € 1.650/month) and an intervention in the travel costs for 1 return ticket. With regard to the travel expenses BOF follows the guidelines of UHasselt's sustainable travel policy.
- This implies that destinations that can be reached by public transport (train, bus) within a time frame stipulated in the UHasselt travel policy, a return ticket for public transport will be reimbursed.
- If the destination cannot be reached within the time frame stipulated in the UHasselt travel policy a fixed amount is provided:
- € 500 within Europe;
- € 1.000 outside Europe.
Who?
The applications for outgoing international mobility can only be submitted by a postdoctoral researcher, a tenure-track assistant professor or a ZAP member. Applications for mobility of a postdoctoral researcher must be submitted together with a promoter that belongs to ZAP at UHasselt.
Application?
- The proposals must be submitted using the application form (the application for external funding is required at the moment of submission to BOF@uhasselt!).
- The applications must include a scientific plan.
- The applications must include a positive advice of the capacity group (vakgroep).
- The completed application forms are electronically submitted to BOF@uhasselt.be.
- External researchers are asked to add a C.V. to the application.
- Applications are submitted in English.
Conditions
- A parallel application with the FWO (FWO - Travel Grant for a long stay abroad is required and should be added to the BOF application. Submission deadline: no later than 3 months before departure). The BOF funds will be conditionally approved pending non-allocation of FWO funds. If the FWO-application is approved, the BOF-application/funding will be invalidated.
- As of May 2024: For a research stay to a EURECA-PRO partner the requirement of a parallel FWO application can we waived if it is substantially motivated why the stay must take place within 3 months and it is thus impossible to submit the application to FWO.
