As part of the upcoming EURECA-PRO Education & Research Days, themed ‘Glocalising Universities: A Shifting Horizon’ (3–5 February 2026, Hasselt University), we are pleased to announce the first edition of the EURECA-PRO Teaching Excellence Awards (TEAs). These awards recognise and celebrate exceptional educators within EURECA-PRO who demonstrate innovation, impact, and leadership in teaching and learning.
The awards aim to:
Recognise and reward educators who excel in innovative teaching that enhances student learning.
Stimulate and share best practices that strengthen the appreciation of teaching within EURECA–PRO.
Highlight the integration of research, innovation, and education across our European University Alliance.
Nominees can apply for one of the three categories:

Rising Star Award |
Celebrates outstanding contributions of PhD students or early-career researchers (PhDs, postdocs) in teaching innovation. |

Glocal Teaching Excellence Award |
Recognises academic staff who successfully integrate global perspectives into their curriculum while maintaining local relevance and community impact. |
|
Innovative Teaching Practice Award |
Acknowledges educators who creatively use technology, digital tools, or unique pedagogical methods to connect global and local contexts in their teaching. |
Who can apply: Academic staff members, PhD students and postdoctoral candidates from any EURECA–PRO partner institution.

A multidisciplinary jury composed of management representatives, experienced educators, and experts in educational innovation from three EURECA–PRO organising partner institutions, will assess all applications.
Winners will be announced and honoured during the Teaching Excellence Awards Ceremony at the close of Day 1 of the EURECA-PRO Education & Research Days (3 February 2026).
A trophy and certificate of recognition
A financial award to support further development or scaling of their teaching innovation
All finalists are expected to attend the glocalising universities event live in Hasselt in order to receive their award
