Dries is responsible for managing academic research projects within the group. He obtained his PhD in Bioscience Engineering at KU Leuven Kulak in 2013. Dries obtained two successive FWO postdoctoral fellowships focusing on the processing of microalgae biomass as novel source for biofuels. He was visiting scientist in 2015 at the National Renewable Energy Laboratories (NREL, CO USA) and at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney, Australia) from 2016 till 2017. In 2018, Dries was appointed as assistant Professor at UHasselt as a one of the PIs within our research group.
