Abstract of the talk

In process mining, we aim to provide business analysts with the tools to analyse recorded process data, with the ultimate aim of improving business processes. In this seminar, I'll take you along in the recently re-enabled field of stochastic process mining, where traditional control-flow models are extended with likelihoods of behaviour. This opens all kinds of doors to new types of analyses: from being able to draw validated conclusions to statistical tests on event logs and causal inference.

This talk is only open to BINF research group members. As such, no registration is required.

About the speaker

Born in Boxtel, the Netherlands, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sander J.J. Leemans is a professor (W2) at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule University (RWTH), Aachen, Germany.

His research interests include process mining, process discovery, conformance checking, stochastic process mining, and robotic process automation. In particular, he specialises in making solid academic techniques available to end-users, analysts and industry partners. He teaches business process management, business process modelling and business process improvement. He is also affiliated with the Fraunhofer FIT institute.
