FWO travel credit for a long stay abroad at the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, Oostenrijk (Research)

Abstract

This research stay is related the PhD research of Niels Martin concerning the use of process mining to support business process simulation model construction. To build a simulation model of a business process, a range of modelling tasks need to be conducted. One of these modelling tasks is the batch organisation of work, which refers to the accumulation of multiple units of work (such as files) to process them as a group. During the research stay at WU Vienna, a technique was developed to model the logic underlying batching decisions based on data recorded by process-aware information systems such as ERP-systems.
