Closed Ecological Plant Cultivation System and Bakery for extended stays on Planet Mars and their applications for Planet Earth (Research)
SpaceBakery is a collaborative project of a consortium between private stakeholders and research institutes/universities with the overall aim to generate knowledge about food production and food quality in closed fully climate controlled and soil independent habitats (a closed biosphere). Key (bio)engineering and operation targets are 'closure', i.e. air and liquid tight, and 'circularity', i.e. the maximum use and reuse of the products injected in and waste produced by the system.
