Title

MAXVR-INFRA: a scalable and flexible infrastructure for digital-physical work environments (Research)

Abstract

MAXVR-INFRA contributes to the ambition and challenge of the digital transformation of the Flemish Industry. To support the digitization of our work environments, there is an increasing interest within companies for the use of Mixed Reality (MR), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) or eXtended Reality (XR) - together abbreviated as M/A /X/VR - in their daily activities. However, the diversity of hardware and software available for developing these types of systems hinders most companies from transitioning to incorporating M/A/X/VR technologies into their solutions. MAXVR-INFRA proposes to establish a comprehensive state-of-the-art infrastructure and software tools to support (i) the capture of real, physical environments and objects in their virtual form, (ii) the visualisation within M/A /X/VR environments, (iii) the realisation of multimodal interaction within these environments, as well as (iv) the validation of M/A/X/VR applications relevant to Flemish companies. The intention is to address and support a diverse range of companies in Flanders, ranging from start-up technology suppliers and SMEs to large international players interested in using this technology in various domains such as manufacturing, biotech, pharma and agriculture & food.
