Evelien Polders obtained her PhD in Transportation Sciences, following a Master's degree in Transportation Sciences with a specialization in traffic safety. Her doctoral research at the Transportation Research Institute (IMOB) of Hasselt University focused on identifying patterns of behaviour, traffic conflicts, and crashes at intersections. Since 2018, she has been working as a lecturer and researcher at IMOB and Hasselt University, where she is involved in general evaluations of road safety policies as well as risk and policy assessments. These studies examine how infrastructure, environment, vehicle, and road user behaviour jointly influence road safety. In addition, Evelien is actively involved in teaching within the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Transportation Sciences at Hasselt University.
