We are pleased to invite you to the INPeR Seminar 2025 on Pensions and Family (organized in cooperation with ENRSP)

During this seminar the impact of changing family structures, more volatile relationships, and shifting responsibilities on pension systems and retirement security will be explored. Family configuration can significantly impact financial well-being throughout life by shaping pension entitlements and/or intergenerational wealth transfers.

Gaining a better understanding of these dynamics will help to advance inclusive, fair and efficient pension systems.

This is a seminar open to all members of INPeR and ENRSP, we are therefore looking forward to receiving contributions from numerous areas of expertise within our membership, such as from economics, law, sociology, demography, and public policy, amongst other disciplines.

We encourage researchers and practitioners to share their insights on topics such as:

  • The influence of marriage, divorce, single households and parenthood on pension rights
  • Gender disparities in pension accumulation due to caregiving roles
  • Intergenerational solidarity and financial support within families
  • Policy responses to evolving family dynamics in pension systems
  • Cross-country comparisons with regard to family-related pension policies

We welcome papers that focus on one country or several countries and also papers that are written by authors from one discipline or across different disciplines.

Join us for an engaging discussion on how family structures interact with pension systems and how policies can better address these dynamics.
