Katinka de Jonge has the pleasure to invite you to the public defence of her doctoral thesis: Dialogical Landscapes: A Speculative Research on Common Ground(ing).
Prior to the defence you are also invited to Meet The Jury.
On 24 June 2026 Katinka de Jonge will be defending her PhD in the arts at Hasselt University and PXL-MAD School of Arts: Dialogical Landscapes: A Speculative Research on Common Ground(ing).
The defence will take place at wpZimmer in Antwerp, within an installation developed as part of the research trajectory. The defence will be preceded by a symposium with interventions and talks by several jury members and followed by an informal gathering and reception.
The research explores collective and self-organised artistic practices as spaces in which alternative ways of living, working, and imagining together can be practiced and rehearsed. Through performative exercises, conversations, writing and collaborative projects, the trajectory approaches artistic practice itself as a form of thinking, while investigating questions of maintenance, labour, hospitality, conflict, and collective organisation within a precarious cultural landscape.
Presented as a non-linear digital environment, the dissertation reflects the fragmentary, polyphonic, and constantly shifting nature of collective practice, and asks how artistic collectivity can temporarily open up forms of commoning and world-making.
The defence will be in English.
