A new name OBI

As from April 1st, the central service team on research (DOC), university library (UBIB) and internationalisation (DIOS) will change its name and structure. In brief, 4 teams will be centered around research, i.e. the Intern Research Policy unit (UH research policy, Special Research Fund (BOF)), the PhD and Responsible Research and Innovation unit (doctoral schools, trainings, RRI, GDPR, ...), the Research funding unit (external research funding, i.e. HEurope, FWO, VLAIO, ...), the Information management and strategic data-analysis unit (data evaluations, reports, surveys, RDM and rankings). In addition, we have the University Library Unit working on Library and electronic services, RDM and the Internationalisation Unit working on internationalisation and development cooperation. Together these 6 units form the Directorate Research, Library, Internationalisation (OBI). More information on our structure.

Day of Humanities and Social Sciences

The research event 'Day of Humanities and Social Sciences' is open to researchers from all faculties and schools

During this day, you will be able to get acquainted with different topics and research methods that are specific to Humanities and Social Sciences. You can also meet the researchers during poster sessions and workshops. And last but not least, we will tell you more about the new BOF funding channel to stimulate intra and interdisciplinary research collaborations.

This event is part of a series of research days that the Directorates of Research and TTO wish to organize jointly with researchers to facilitate research collaborations within UHasselt. The detected interdisciplinary research opportunities will be matched with external partners in future interactions.

Research Data Management trainings

Research funders at home and abroad expect that researchers manage their publicly funded research projects (including research data) well. At the basis of many funders’ data policies lies the requirement to write and regularly update a Data Management Plan, and the recommendation or even obligation to make the research data openly available (where possible). The RDM team can give you advice on data management planning, policies, best practices, tools, etc. You can contact them directly with your questions and/or you can brush up your data management knowledge through (basic or advanced) RDM training sessions. Find more information and the option to register in the RDM training calendar.

UHasselt Metadata repository

As UHasselt researcher, you are expected to upload the metadata of the datasets underlying your peer-reviewed publications. This can be done via the UHasselt metadata repository that has been integrated into the Document Server, the database in which you already deposit your publications.

Describe your datasets in the metadata repository so they appear on your researcher profile and can be linked to your publications. As such, you get recognition for your data, create visibility for your research, receive more citations and get a higher H-index. In addition, you comply with the FAIR principles and your funder's requirements.

Loading the metadata can be done in just three simple steps.

DIOS Mobility Programme and Global Minds calls

The yearly DIOS Incentive fund and Global Minds call has been launched. DIOS launches 3 different calls: DIOS Incentive fund and Global Minds call for projects, DIOS Mobility programme, and Global Minds predoctoral visits. Via these calls, DIOS funds projects and mobilities that contribute to the goals of the internationalisation policy plan and/or the Global Minds programme. A budget is made available through internal UHasselt means to finance projects and mobilities that contribute to the goals of the internationalisation policy plan. An additional budget is made available through Global Minds, a VLIR-UOS programme which aims to strengthen the institutional capacity in order to reach University Development Cooperation (UDC) with impact. The first deadline for submitting proposals is 15 May 2022. More information.
