Erasmus+ Programme Guide 2021-2027

Internationalization

Funding organisation:

European Commission

What?

Erasmus+ provides grants for a wide range of actions and activities in the fields of education, training, youth and sport. On March 25, the European Commission kicked off the new Erasmus+ programme period 2021-2027 by publishing the new Erasmus+ Programme Guide. The programme guide provides an overview of the possibilities for projects to be funded by the European Union within the Erasmus+ programme. The Commission also announced the calls for 2021, including the first deadlines.

Regulations?

The new Erasmus+ programme is centralized around three different ‘Key Actions’ (KA).

KEY ACTION 1 - Learning mobility of individuals
KA1 supports physical and blended mobility of higher education students in any study field and cycle (short cycle, bachelor, master and doctoral levels). Students can either study abroad at a partner higher education institution or carry out a traineeship in an enterprise, a research institute, a laboratory, an organisation or any other relevant workplace abroad. While long term physical mobility is strongly encouraged, this action recognises the need to offer more flexible physical mobility duration to ensure the programme is accessible to students from all backgrounds, circumstances and study fields.
Key Action 1 also supports higher education teaching and administrative staff to take part in professional development activities abroad. Also staff from the world of work is supported to teach and train students or staff at higher education institutions. These activities may consist of teaching as well as training periods (such as job shadowing, observation periods, training courses).
Furthermore, this action supports blended intensive programmes, allowing for groups of higher education institutions to develop jointly blended mobility curricula and activities for students as well as academic and administrative staff.

Upcoming calls:
  • Mobility of individuals in the field of higher education - Deadline 11 May
! Note that this call is managed on an institutional level. The International Office takes the lead and will get in touch with the faculties and administrative offices involved.

KEY ACTION 2 - Cooperation among organisations & institutions
The actions under KA2 make it possible for organisations from different participating countries to work together, to develop, share and transfer best practices and innovative approaches in the fields of education, training and youth. There are three main themes within Key Action 2:
  1. Partnerships for Cooperation enables participating organisations to gain experience in international cooperation and to strengthen their capacities, but also to produce high-quality innovative deliverables.
  2. Partnerships for Excellence support projects with a long-term sustainable perspective.
  3. Partnerships for Innovation support projects that aim at achieving systemic impact at European level by having the capacity to deploy the project outcomes on a European scale and/or by being able to transfer them into different thematic or geographical contexts. They focus on thematic areas that are strategic for Europe's growth and competitiveness and social cohesion.
