What?
The objective of MSCA Choose Europe for Science is to increase the attractiveness of European research careers by addressing the issue of precarity and by offering excellent working conditions. The programme provides funding for organisations to set up a postdoctoral programme, with each beneficiary recruiting a minimum of 3 researchers. Participating institutions are required to provide longer-term employment prospects. The objective is to fight against the precarity of researchers' careers, thus making research careers in Europe more attractive. The ultimate objective is to make Europe the most attractive destination for researchers in the world.
Bottom-upThe ‘Choose Europe for Science' pilot, like the rest of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions is completely bottom-up. There is no predefined theme or discipline. Applicants are free to propose programmes that align with their own academic and/or research strategies, to build on and reinforce their areas of excellence.
FundingProjects should recruit at least 3 researchers for 3 to 5 years, divided into two stages. During the first stage, lasting 24 or 36 months, the EU will provide funding equivalent to the minimum gross monthly remuneration of recruited researchers, amounting to € 6,700. The second stage of 24 months will be funded entirely by the beneficiary with remuneration rates to be set at a level that is nationally or regionally competitive. Throughout these phases, the recruited researcher is expected to be given long-term career prospects that will extend beyond the project duration.
Who?
Choose Europe for Science is open to researchers with a doctoral degree from across the world. The MSCA mobility rule applies and requires that researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the application.
Application?
Applications to Choose Europe for Science can be submitted from 1 October 2025. The completed proposal, including all annexes, should be submitted by 3 December 2025.
