Research

Funding organisation:

Interreg

What?

The Interreg Meuse-Rhine (NL-BE-DE) programme recently launched its fifth call for projects. The fifth call is open to all programme priorities. The available budget is divided as follows between the different priorities:

1. A smarter Meuse-Rhine-area: € 14.108.217;
2. A greener, low-carbon Meuse-Rhine area: € 13.232.888;
3. A more social Meuse-Rhine area: € 17.874.590;
4. A Meuse-Rhine area with better cooperation governance: € 267.853.

Who?

Any organisation based in the programme area may apply

Application?

The selection procedure is organised in 2 steps: In this first stage, interested parties can submit their project outlines. As a follow-up step, the programme will evaluate the submitted project outlines and will decide on which applicants will be invited to continue to the second step of producing a full-fledged application.

NEW

Language simplification in step 1

Up until call 4, both step 1 and step 2 had to be submitted in 4 languages: English, Dutch, French and German. To simplify the step 1 process, future applicants are allowed to choose one of the options below for the fifth call:

  • The application is submitted in English only.
  • The application is submitted in the three programme languages (Dutch, French, German).

In step 2, applicants are expected to submit their application in all four languages.

More chances to apply

The fifth call for projects is an ongoing call: this means you can hand in your project idea any day from July 1, 2025, to July 1, 2026. Throughout the year, there will be five key dates (cut-off moments). However, the allocation of budgets will be done on a first-come, first-served basis. It is possible that by the later cut-off moments, no more program funding is available.

  • Cut-off moment 1: 1 September 2025 (only a step 1 application can be submitted)
  • Cut-off moment 2: 3 November 2025
  • Cut-off moment 3: 26 January 2026
  • Cut-off moment 4: 13 April 2026
  • Cut-off moment 5: 1 July 2026 (no more step 1 applications can be submitted)
At these cut-off moments, the programme will assess all the submitted ideas. If your project is rejected the first time, you can resubmit based on the feedback you receive.

All project applications must be submitted via the digital system JEMS. In order to prepare and submit your project outline, please use the following link to the JEMS system.
