FWO - Weave - F.R.S.-FNRS as Lead Agency 2026

What?

Flemish-Walloon consortia, possibly supplemented by a partner from Luxembourg, Switzerland or Germany, can submit their joint Weave application to F.R.S.-FNRS until 7 July 2026 within the regular channel ‘Projet de recherche - PDR’. 

Research Project (PDR - Projet de recherche): a funding instrument for single or Multi-university research projects, supported by a main promoter-applicant, and including operating, personnel and small equipment costs. The promoter is responsible for choosing the personnel to hire.

Project duration: 2 or 4 years

Budget: Flemish partners need to follow the FWO funding rules, so at least € 50,000 per year for the entire project (all Flemish, federal and non-Flemish institutions included) and at most € 145,000 per year per Flemish/federal institution.

Who?

Flemish research institutions eligible to the Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (FWO): Flemish partners must comply with the guidelines of the Weave FWO page as a partner agency.
  

Application?

Submission deadline at F.R.S.-FNRS: 7 July 2026

The Flemish supervisor-spokesperson needs to do an obligatory administrative submission to the FWO through the E-portal, using the specific application form‘Research project WEAVE (FWO acts as Partner Agency)’, no later than 7 calendar days (5.00 pm) after the deadline adopted by the non-Flemish/foreign research funder (Lead Agency) where the complete research proposal was submitted. Important: in the tab ‘project’ you must upload the complete and identical application with all attachments (not only the project description) as submitted to the Lead Agency (PDF format). Furthermore, make sure that each applicant involved at Flemish and non-Flemish sides as well as the requested Flemish budget submitted to the Lead Agency are identical to what is being submitted to the FWO in the administrative submission.
