Honorary doctorate for Prof. dr. Stella M. Nkomo

American professor Stella M. Nkomo (University of Pretoria, South Africa) is a worldwide pioneer and authoritative voice in research around diversity, gender and inequality.

One of the first in the research field of organisational studies, she drew attention to issues of racial inequality. In it, she shows how certain processes and practices within organisations create exclusion and focuses on how inclusion can just be promoted.

Stella Nkomo is also founder and president of the Africa Academy of Management (AFAM).

The festivities started as early as Monday 23 May at Z33 with a welcome address by Rector Prof. dr. Bernard Vanheusden and Prof. dr. Patrizia Zanoni, followed by a lecture by Honorary Doctor Prof. dr. Stella M. Nkomo and a panel discussion with Dounia Bourabain (VUB), Sibo Kanobana (UGent) and Koen Van Laer (UHasselt), moderated by Patrizia Zanoni.

In the afternoon, a visit to the Charging Myths: On-Trade-Off exhibition on lithium in Congo at Z33 took place and we concluded this festive and interesting day with a tour of the Hasselt University campus building "Oude Gevangenis".
