1. As a new student (2022 - 2023)
You can register as a new student when you are admitted to one of our programmes & paid your tuition fee.
2. For this academic year (2022 - 2023)
If you want to register for this academic year, you'll need to ask permission via the academic advisor of the study program of your choice. Follow the steps that are required to receive admission.
From your second consecutive year at UHasselt, you need to re-register.

Congratulations! It is time for you to finalise your registration and officially become a student at Hasselt University. You'll have to complete 3 steps:
Follow our application process as a first step to be admitted to one of our study programmes.
After you've been admitted to the study programme of your choice, you'll have to pay the tuition fee.
Final registrations are open from June 27, 2022. To finalise your registration, you'll need to book an appointment with a staff member of the student administration.
International students have to finalise their registration on campus. However, distance learning students can book an online appointment.

Google Meet will be used for all online appointments.

Or on campus
All on campus appointments will take place at our registration desk in city campus Hasselt located in the Old Prison building, Martelarenlaan 42, 3500 Hasselt. Location and accessibility Hasselt Campus.
You are welcome to bring one friend or family member. Due to the ongoing Covid19 pandemic, a maximum of two people can be present - you and one close contact person.
This is required if you wish to finalise your registration online or on campus.

International students receive payment instructions the moment they are admitted.
Non-EEA students can finalise their registration only after receipt of payment.

Orientation programme
At the start of each semester an orientation programme is organised for international students.
You will receive useful information on anything from Belgian culture to administrative procedures within the university. The orientation programme further offers the opportunity for you to meet other (international) students.
Be sure to arrive in Belgium before the start of the orientation programme and before the start of the academic year.
From your second consecutive year at Hasselt University, you need to re-register in 3 easy steps.
Starting from the 11th of July, you can re-register by making a request in your student file. Do this before the 30th of September (included). Otherwise, your account (username and password) will expire. Please contact the student administration office when this happens.
After re-registering, you'll receive an email with instructions to pay a deposit. The deposit is part of the tuition fee for next academic year.
Pay the deposit before the 1st of October and you're ready for next academic year!

To register as a PhD student, you'll need to be admitted by UHasselt.
Are you admitted? Perfect! You can finalise your registration in two steps.
Attention: You don't have to do a pre-registration if you were a student at UHasselt. You can book an online or face-to-face appointment right away!
We always ask to start your pre-registration because we need to have a clear view on your study path. Your master diploma is the most important document as a PhD student. The last step is "Uploads/Downloads" where you can upload all the required documents.
