Prof. dr. Martin Heine:

Martin Heine is a mid-career researcher and implementation science specialist dedicated to strengthening healthcare delivery in resource-limited settings. He holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Medicine from Utrecht University . He has performed research on physical activity, originally in neurological conditions (PhD Utrecht/Amsterdam) but now expanded to various chronic conditions. During his  period in South Africa (2015-21), he developed a global health perspective and attention to implementation of secondary prevention programs in under-resourced health care settings. Afterwards, he worked on implementation research and education in the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care, UMC Utrecht. Now, he is leading the “Global Health & Implementation Science” group at the Prinses Maxima Center. His research is guided by a strong interest in how context influences implementation outcomes and a deep commitment to inclusive, participatory approaches.
