Mathias Fraiponts attained his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Hasselt University in 2018, after finishing a thesis on the synthesis of semiconducting organic ammonium iodide salts for layered hybrid perovskites in the group of Prof. D. Vanderzande. He completed his Master's studies at the KU Leuven in 2020, where he worked on the synthesis and validation of existing and novel BODIPY dyes for ER-staining in the group of Prof. W. Dehaen. As of August 2020, he returned to his hometown to work as a Ph.D. student in a joint collaboration between the DSOS group and the LCT group of Prof. B. Champagne at UNamur, focusing on the controlled intersystem crossing and emission of donor-acceptor type organic chromophores with applications in photodynamic therapy and organic light-emitting diodes.
