You will find the complete education, examination and legal position regulations (OER) and the study guide on the UHasselt website.
Be sure to read the section 'evaluation' in the study guide for each course unit in your study programme.
You can find your examination schedule in My Timetable or via your Student Portal at the latest 4 weeks before the start of an examination period. Need help or don't see your exams? Then take a look here: Mytimetable manual.
Do you have resits?
In mytimetable.uhasselt.be, add the courses for which you can retake an exam (see the manual timetables/exam schedules Students - switch to English at the top of the page). You will then see the retake dates as soon as they become available for your academic programme. This is on 11 July at the latest. You may see resits for courses for which you are not required to retake (you either passed or were disqualified for that course). This is the case when you have manually added courses or your course year throughout the academic year.
The room allocation is indicated in the examination timetable. Check it before each exam. Students with granted exam arrangements take their seats in the designated examination room. You can find this exam room in My Timetable, on Blackboard/Toledo or in your mail (depending on your programme).
Coinciding exams: if you, as a student, are unable to physically take part in coinciding exams (i.e., the same day and time), you need to inform your academic advisor (how and when will be communicated via Blackboard/Toledo). This does not apply to catch-up exams arranged due to a force majeure situation.
If you cannot take part in an exam for a legitimate reason, you must make the following notification:
You report your absence via your student portal, no later than the day of the first missed exam and attach a digital proof that substantiates your absence and covers the day of the missed exam.
A medical certificate is accepted as valid proof, provided it is issued by a doctor and dated no later than the day of the illness or accident. A certificate reporting only the student's statement (dixitattest) or a certificate written after the illness (post-factumattest) will not be accepted as evidence.
You indicate whether you want a catch-up exam.
Your academic advisor will then check with the chair of the board of examination whether it is possible to take the exam on another date and will then inform you. Please note that this process may take some time, but you will be informed in a timely manner.
You store all communication devices, switched off, in your backpack.
You place your jacket and backpack in a designated location in the examination room, as indicated by the supervisor.
On the bench, please provide only writing utensils, or a transparent bag containing them, along with your student ID (or, failing that, another official form of identification). You may also bring a bottle of unlabelled water. Unless otherwise communicated, you are not allowed to bring any other supplies than these.
If you are a student of the Law programme, please read carefully the regulations concerning the use of law books and dictionaries on the UHasselt website.
Certain exam arrangements must be requested in advance for each exam period (e.g., use of an exam laptop). Do not forget this.
As a student with examination facilities, you must bring your “certificate of special circumstances” to the examination. You can find this information via the student portal, under 'Special Circumstances,' 'Open File,' and then 'Certificate Special Circumstances.'
If you are a student with a short-term, conditional, or other special circumstance, you can submit an email from your academic advisor.
Please respect the starting time and arrive on time. A student arriving late without a valid reason may be rejected.
Depending on the programme's guidelines, confirm your attendance by signing the attendance list before/during/at the end of the exam and present your student card.
The exam starts as soon as all students have received their copies or registered for a computer-based examination. Your supervisor gives the start signal.
If you have a written exam, immediately fill in your name, student number, and, if necessary, your series on all pages of your exam copy and the scrap paper.
If scrap paper is permitted, the supervisor will distribute it. The use of your own (draft) paper is normally not permitted!
As a student, you comply with the supervisor's instructions.
Without permission, you do not consult or exchange data of any kind by word or gesture.
Do not leave the examination room without the supervisor's permission.
If you need to use the restroom, ask the supervisor for permission. Upon permission, a supervisor will escort you to a sanitary block.
Take care of your copy: a well-readable, well-kept copy will minimise the risk of losing marks due to misinterpretation.
Write your name on every sheet, even on scrap paper.
Your behaviour during the examination is correct and does not give rise to suspicion of irregularity. In the event of suspected irregularities, the examination regulations will be strictly applied (see the examination regulations).
Are you a student with examination facilities? Place your certificate/email (folded) together with your student card on the corner of your examination table and show it at the supervisor's request.
Put your answers in the correct order and verify the numbering (e.g., 1/5, 2/5,...). Place scrap paper at the back.
Hand off all documents (statement, formulary, net, and draft) according to the supervisor's guidelines. If you receive a tear-off slip from the supervisor, keep it as proof.
After each examination period, the results are announced via the student portal. The examination marks are finalised as soon as they are published. (Guideline: 10 working days after the end of the examination period in question). If you did not pass all your http://www.uhasselt.be/ombuds.course units (10 or more or a P), you indicate in your electronic student file whether you will participate in the re-examination. This is possible from July 11 to August 8.
After the announcement of the exam results, you are entitled to inspect your exam for the examination period in question. This is the perfect time to ask the lecturer questions about the exam.
The ombuds of your programme will investigate all complaints you have about your exam. You can also contact the ombudsperson if you suspect an error in the calculation of your exam results.
He/she acts as a mediator between the members of the Board of Examination and/or the examiners and the students, in consultation with the chair of the Board of Examination. You can find the name of the ombudsperson for your programme in the study guide or via www.uhasselt.be/ombuds.
