2025-02-21: Read & Green Program ACS

As of January 1, 2025, the Read & Green Program of ACS (American Chemical Society) has come into effect. In this context, Hasselt University now applies the policy that all author versions of ACS publications with a corresponding author from Hasselt University are made available without embargo by default.

If the corresponding author is affiliated with another institution, it is not always clear whether that institution participates in the Read & Green Program. In the absence of explicit instructions from the UHasselt author, we will apply the Belgian Open Access law in such cases (see section 'The green road'), which imposes a six-month embargo on the author version.

Additionally, ACS offers a discount on APCs for authors from Hasselt University who opt for immediate Open Access of the published version.
