Momenteel werk ik als postdoctoraal onderzoeker op het HOUSE onderzoeksproject. Daarvoor deed ik voor mijn interdisciplinair doctoraat onderzoek naar en met ouderen met een migratieachtergrond. Mijn onderzoek focuste zich op thema's zoals hun thuisgevoel, welbevinden en huisvesting. Ik benaderde dit onderwerp vanuit een sociaal en (interieur)archictecturaal perspectief. Enkele vragen die centraal stonden: Wat betekent ‘thuis’ voor ouderen met een migratieachtergrond? Welke rol spelen de woning en omgeving in hun thuisgevoel? Welk effect heeft dit thuisgevoel op hun welbevinden? Hoe kunnen we woningen ontwerpen terwijl we rekening houden met hun thuisgevoel, welbevinden en diversiteit?
ENG: I am currently working as a postdoctoral researcher on the HOUSE research project. Prior to that, I, for my interdisciplinary PhD, I conducted research on older adults with a migration background. My research focused on their sense of home, wellbeing and housing. I approached this topic from a social and (interior) architectural perspective. Some questions central to my research were; What does 'home' mean to older adults with a migration background? What role do their housing and neighbourhood play in their sense of home? In what way does their sense of home affect their wellbeing? How can we design housing while taking into account their sense of home, wellbeing and diversity?

NL: Ik studeerde Agogische Wetenschappen aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel, gevolgd door een Specifieke Lerarenopleiding. Ik begon in 2019 aan mijn doctoraat aan de Faculteit Architectuur en Kunst (onderzoeksgroep 'Designing for More') aan de Universiteit Hasselt in samenwerking met de Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Faculteit Psychologie en Educatiewetenschappen). In 2025 startte ik als postdoctoraal onderzoeker aan de UHasselt (Arck).
ENG: I studied Adults Educational Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, followed by a teacher's degree. In 2019, I started my PhD at the Faculty of Architecture and Arts (research group 'Designing for More') at Hasselt University in collaboration with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences). In 2025 I started as a postdoctoral researcher at Hasselt University (Arck)
