REGISTRATION

Welcome! Nice to see you here! Thank you for choosing Hasselt University!

On this page you will find useful information that you need in order to finalise your registration.
Kindly read everything thoroughly. We hope to see you at the beginning of the academic year.


The final registration is step 5 of the admission process. Note that foreign degree holders first need to apply for admission. If you are a foreign degree holder and you did not yet apply for admission, please start the procedure here.

Congratulations! It is time for you to finalise your registration and officially become a student at Hasselt University. 

Below you will find the necessary information on how, when and where you can finalise your registration. 

Final registrations are open from June 28, 2021.
There are two available options:

Online Appointment

Google Meet will be used for all online appointments. 
Once you book your appointment you will receive the link along with extra information.

On Campus Appointment 

All on campus appointments will take place at our registration desk in city campus Hasselt located in the Old Prison building.

You are welcome to bring one friend or family member.
Due to the ongoing Covid19 pandemic, a maximum of two people can be present - you and one close contact person.
Keep in mind everyone has to wear a mask, keep distance and follow all hygene measures.


You have to book an appointment. 

This is required both if you wish to finalise your registration online or on campus.

Online and on campus appointments will be scheduled in shifts.

  • For instance on a certain day all online appointments will take place in the morning, while on another day they will only be available in the afternoon.
  • If mornings have been reserved for online appointments, then the afternoon will be reserved for on campus appointments and vice versa.

This may change depending on which type of appointments are predominantly booked.

You can choose the appointment that best suits your schedule.

When can you book an appointment?

Any week day between 09:00 to 16:00 during the following periods:

  • June 28 to July 9, 2021
  • August 16 to October 1, 2021

We are also open for registrations on two Saturdays:

  • July 3, 2021 between 09:00 and 12:00
  • September 11, 2021 between 09:00 and 12:00

We are closed from July 10 to August 15, 2021.

Are you a distance learning student?

You are not required to come on campus for the final registration.
You may book an online appointment via the link above. 

What do you need to bring in order to register?

  • Identity card or passport.
  • Official diplomas.
  • International master students - letter of admission.

How can you pay?

International students receive payment instructions the moment they are admitted.
Final registration only is possible after receipt of the payment.

Orientation Programme

At the start of each semester an orientation programme is organised for international students.
You will receive useful information on anything from Belgian culture to administrative procedures within the university.
The orientation programme further offers the opportunity for you to meet other (international) students.

Be sure to arrive in Belgium before the start of the orientation programme and before the start of the academic year.

Re-registration

From your second consecutive year at Hasselt University, you need to re-register.

Starting 11 July, you can re-register from your student file. After re-registering, you'll receive an email with the data needed to transfer an advance for the tuition fees. 

You should re-register as soon as possible, and certainly before the start of the academic year. Re-registering will not be possible after 1 October, because your user number and password will expire on that date.

After an interruption

If you have already been registered at Hasselt University in the past and want to register again after an interruption of your studies, you have to register at the registration desk in the Old Prison - City Campus Hasselt.

After your arrival, you have to register with the Student Administration (Martelarenlaan 42, 3500 Hasselt) to complete your registration and get your student card.

During the academic year, students can modify their study contract.

How can you modify your study programme? 
  • De-registration for and modification of a programme within Hasselt University (Education Regulations Article 6.4)
    If you are thinking about changing programme, please contact the academic advisor
     
  • De-registration for a programme and discontinuing your studies at Hasselt University (Education Regulations Article 6.4
    If you have decided to discontinue your studies at Hasselt University during the academic year, please print out the form "de-registering for a programme" via your student file, fill it out and sign it, and hand it over to the Student Administration Office, together with your student card.
