State-of-the-art exercise prescription to patients with coronary artery disease and heart failure

Why and How

Online lecture and case-based training • 4 hours • English

Exercise training and physical activity have been shown to be clinically effective and medically safe interventions in the primary and secondary prevention of coronary artery disease and heart failure.

This online REVAL Academy lecture will provide participants with

  • a state-of-the-art overview of current evidence indicating exercise prescriptions will lead to different clinical benefits and better outcomes
  • guidance on how to prescribe exercise to this group of individuals, according to the latest European (EAPC/ESC) position statements and guidelines
  • patient case studies

Target audience

This online lecture is relevant for clinicians (including but not limited to physicians, physiotherapists, exercise specialists and nurses) who are involved with exercise prescription for patients with coronary artery disease and heart failure.

Content & learning goals

Different exercise prescriptions will lead to different clinical benefits and outcomes.

This course will give a proper foundation of why and how exercise should be prescribed, in particular when different combinations of cardiovascular risk factors, prescribed medications, and differences in exercise capacity/physiology are present.

The patient case studies provide an opportunity to practice the newly acquired knowledge and skills.

Following the online lecture, you will get temporary access to the EXPERT Training tool, which allows you to continue with online training on how to prescribe exercise to many different patient cases.

After participating in the online lecture, you will:

  • Know the latest EAPC/ESC position statements and guidelines on exercise prescription for patients with coronary artery disease and heart failure
  • Be able to translate position statements/guidelines on exercise prescription into clinical practice

Date and time

The online lecture and case based training will take place on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 1 - 5:30 pm CET.
