Jetske Strijbos is assistant professor in the Master of Primary Education programme at the School of Educational Studies at Hasselt University (Belgium). Her research centres on citizenship education, with a particular focus on student participation, deliberation, civic engagement, and school connectedness in metropolitan and highly diverse educational settings. Through her work, she seeks to better understand how schools can foster democratic learning experiences for all students. Methodologically, she has a strong interest in participatory research approaches. Her research frequently employs visual and arts-based methods that enable children, adolescents, parents, and teachers to actively contribute to knowledge production. Jetske is also actively involved in international academic networks. She serves as co-convenor of the EERA Citizenship Education Research Network (Network 34) and participates in the EUTOPIA Learning Community on Urban Education and the FWO WOG on Sustainability Didactics.
